Her majesty, Queen Beyoncé, broke her silence at last Sunday’s BET Awards held in California, USA. The ceremony recognises and celebrates the achievements of minority-identifying artists in the United States and beyond.
Beyoncé sent her protégés, Chloe x Halle, to accept the Viewer’s Choice Award on her behalf. The two young artists recited a heartfelt speech from Bey, as they held one of the five awards Bey had won that night- the most wins secured by an artist at this year’s ceremony.
As you no doubt know, Queen🐝 is recuperating with her newborn twins at an exclusive enclave in sun-kissed Malibu. Throughout her pregnancy, Beyoncé re-defined pregnancy fashion, by elevating her looks into the upper echelons of glitz, glamour and sublime beauty.
🐝 She #BrokeTheInternet in signature style by publicly announcing her pregnancy on Instagram in February. In a fitting tribute to the Madonna, Beyoncé displayed her blossoming bump in an unabashed celebration of fecundity and feminist power. A gauze veil softens her gaze, and the lush cascade of blooms behind her cements the force of nature that is motherhood. And eagle-eyed Beyhive members noted that the mis-matched lingerie she was wearing; a maroon bra and a pair of baby-blue silk briefs; could very well be an astute hint as to the gender of her then soon-to-be-borns.
🐝🐝 For a sublime Grammy Awards performance, that was (almost) religious in its intensity, Beyoncé donned a gilded gold gown by Peter Dundas topped with a matching gold headpiece. Her outfit, drawing on solar and royal motifs, cemented her position as the reigning queen of … well, just about everything! … but the effect was anything but gaudy.
No; the dress, and later on, her majestic performance of ‘Love Drought’ and ‘Sandcastles’ from her ground-breaking album ‘Lemonade’, elevated her to such high levels that few artists could ever dream of achieving.
Beyoncé finished the night with having won two awards, but many amongst us felt that she was unfairly dismissed from what could be considered the most-important category of the Grammys- Album of the Year.
🐝🐝🐝 And finally, Beyoncé would spend the next four months or so following a wholly-deserved and more relaxed schedule. But that didn’t stop her from taking to Instagram, to dazzle us with stunning outfit combinations which were often #twinned with her adorable daughter, Blue Ivy. Case in point is this hydrangea-print chiffon dress from Dolce and Gabbana that Bey and Blue rocked with such panache; that it left us breathless for more!
As we await with bated breath for fresh news and updates on Bey, we wish her and her family all the best, and look forward to seeing her out and about soon- on Instagram and in real life!
